Open Call: On the Block
Took this image out of my hotel window during a trip to China in 2017. The hotel where I stayed, in the Jianguomenwai neighborhood of Beijing, was a deep pink/salmon color. Early one morning, I noticed how the hotel colors were reflected in a nearby office building as the sun began to rise. I shot this image handheld, using a polarizing filter to minimize reflections on the hotel room glass. I zoomed in to isolate the windows of the office building. This image has won numerous international awards, including a Bronze Medal at the 2019 Budapest International Photo Awards, and was a finalist in the 2017 Arcaid Images Architectural Photography Awards.
