Open Call: In Isolation

The photograph shows Osen, where the river Botnelva joins Fjelldalselven and Dalbekken further down, before entering into the ocean. Osen is where salt- and freshwater meet and unite. The river follows one side of the fjord through a trace in the seabed that you see in the back of the image. At low tide, only the river is visible. It’s one of my special places I return to when I visit my island in Northern Norway. Portal is a project that explores memory and identity and reflects upon loneliness, longing and belonging. Your own experiences and experiences from people you meet, know or hear about become part of your own memories and so part of the collective memory – like several rivers growing into one ocean.
